Burning Coal Theatre Company, a small professional, Equity theatre based in Raleigh, North Carolina presents the North Carolina premiere of James Joyce’s ‘The Dead’, a musical adaptation of Joyce’s classic short story directed by Rebecca Holderness.

Adapted by Richard Nelson and Shawn Davey from the classic short story by James Joyce, James Joyce’s ‘The Dead’ is about an extended family of Dubliners who gather at Christmas to sing and regale each other with stories of the past. When a mysterious stranger happens into their midst, though, their lives are thrown into disarray. Who is the mysterious “Michael” and what does he have to do with a man who died a quarter century ago?
