Hedwig and the Angry Inch

This ground breaking, long running off-Broadway rock musical was the winner of the Obie Award and the NY Outer Critics Circle Award. Hedwig and the Angry Inch by John Cameron Mitchell, with music and lyrics by Stephen Trask, tells the story of Hedwig Schmidt, who sees a sex change operation and subsequent marriage to an American GI as his escape from West Berlin. After his operation is botched and he is left stranded in a trailer park in Kansas, the German rock and roll Goddess forms a band, the Angry Inch, and sets out for fame and retribution.
