The University Theatre presents Follies written by James Goldman with music and lyrics from Stephen Sondheim. The spotlight shines on Sally and Phyllis , two of the ex-showgirls. Both are discontented in their relationships, with glimmers of loves past surfacing. Sally yearns for the love she once had, and not with her husband Buddy. Phyllis has become disenchanted after all these years, upset that her husband Ben is unable to show genuine love for her.
Times have changed, and the girls realize their youthful beauty has faded. As ghosts of their former selves appear, Sally and Phyllis peer regretfully into the days of the Follies extravaganza shows. Their husbands also engage in a look to the distant past, remembering the times when they waited on their gals and were young and in love.
Directed and costumed by John McIlwee.
