Launch Party

Riverspace Arts in Nyack hosts a special celebratory event to launch a new era in the cultural life of the area. The program will feature theatrical and musical performances that represent the diversity and richness of the arts in the area. Elliot Forrest and Darrell Larson are the hosts for the evening.

The launch party will include performances by singer/songwriter Tom Chapin, Tony Award winning actor Bill Irwin and composer John Forster. Also included will be musical and dance performances by the Chiku Awali African Dance Ensemble, the United Sounds of Praise and the Anointed Voices of St. John Deliverance Tabernacle, Bridgman/Packer Dance, the Steve Swan Band, Richard Sussman, Andy Krikun, the Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble and Freedy Johnson. Additional surprise guests will add excitement to the evening. The American String Quartet will perform, with a special appearance by cellist David Geber. A Nyack resident, Geber was the first cellist for the American String Quartet, who departed the quartet four years ago to accept a position as Dean of the Manhattan School of Music. This performance will mark a reunion of the original members of the quartet, who will play a movement from The Schubert Quintet in C.

The Arts Center is a program of the Friends of the Nyacks, who, with the enthusiastic support of donors and artists from the community, rescued the theater as a resource for the region this summer and is now in the process of forming an affiliate for the operation of the Center.

The special pre-show patron party tickets ($100 per person) includes wine and hors d’oeuvres at the Hudson House at 6:00 PM.
