This 15-piece big band is hot! Led by Grammy winning trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, whose clear trumpet tone and beautifully crafted solos are breathtaking, the JLCO performs the full jazz spectrum – from the music’s New Orleans roots to bebop to modern jazz. To celebrate Wynton’s 50th birthday, they’ll showcase a retrospective of his music written for big band, along with modern jazz renditions of traditional favorites including tunes by Thelonious Monk, classic Blue Note Records selections by Herbie Hancock, Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan, Joe Henderson and many more.
