About This Show

Evita, the dynamic musical masterpiece by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, takes center stage at the Helen Hayes Theatre Company with brand new modifications and additional material as approved by the show’s authors. The show is directed by Gordon Greenberg and stars Broadway veterans Felicia Finley, David Brummel, and Frank Baiocchi.

The musical tells the extraordinary story of Eva Peron, the controversial woman who ascended from poor country girl to become the most powerful woman in Argentina. Told through a score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, Evita creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself. The production at the HHTC will include material never before used on the London or Broadway stage. With special permission, certain verses of “The Lady’s Got Potential”, from the original concert album and 1996 film, will be included as well as additional verses of “Another Suitcase In Another Hall” for Eva.These changes to the libretto have been made with the goal of further mining Eva’s inner doubts and obstacles, which ultimately thickened her skin and fueled her fierce ambition and passion for the plight of the country’s huge underclass.
