About This Show

Puccini’s spectacular final work is worshiped not only as his grandest masterpiece, but also as the apex of Italian opera.

Through a complex and beautiful score, Turandot tells the exotic tale of the ultimate ice princess and the stranger who melts her heart. From stratospheric high notes to delicate and impassioned lyrical outpourings, the score demands the utmost intensity from its singers, particularly in the rousing “Nessun dorma,” one of opera’s most renowned arias.

New York City Opera’s fairy-tale-style production evokes the exotic beauty of the Orient with what The New Yorker calls “abundant spectacle.”
