The Looking Glass Winter 2006 Writer/Director’s Forum

A festival of workshop productions featuring plays by new writers and directors, The Looking Glass Winter 2006 Writer/Director’s Forum continues the company’s mission of reflecting life on the stage with truth and theatricality while exploring a female vision and aesthetic. This year’s winter festival features the work of six emerging female directors tackling both classic and new works. Throughout the three-week festival, a wide range of styles are presented, from a new adaptation of Moliére’s The Misanthrope to a new work by Lauren D. Yee, Danielle Steel Writes Children’s Novels.

November 30 – December 3

Hustlers by Lisa Johnson, Directed by Emily Plumb
A young prostitute finds solace in weaving dreams for a mentally-challenged boy. Together, they create a fantasy world to escape their desolate lives.

The Slash by Nancy G. McClernan, Directed by Ain Rashida Sykes
Two Internet friends find solace in the fan fiction they are writing based on their favorite TV Sci-fi. When personal lives distract them from what really matters – the story – will their friendship survive to tell the tale?
