About This Show

The 2005 BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange Teen Arts Conference features a dance, theater and performance concert by teenagers, free classes and two unique workshops: Higher Education Opportunities in Theater and Dance and Arts & Social Change. It will take place February 11-12, 2005. The workshop for artists who work with high school students will take place at BAX/Brooklyn Exchange, 421 5th Ave. and all other events will take place at Middle School 88, 544 7th Ave at 18th St. The concert will feature students from the Queens International High School, The Three Clubs Circus Performance Arts group, The Dancehall Queens, The MCC Theater Youth Company and the Jersey City County Prep Hight School Dance Company among others.
Arts & Social Change Friday February 11, 6:00-9:00pm
For teaching artists, classroom teachers
FREE, Pre-registration required
This three hour workshop will explore developing a curriculum for high school age youth that addresses social change and provides tools for developing community partnerships. We will look at the role of the teaching artist as an activist in a school, neighborhood center or institution.

FREE for Students and Parents
Representatives from area colleges and universities discuss unique features of their programs including scholarship opportunities. Past college speakers included representatives from NYU, Sarah Lawrence College, Hofstra University, Hunter College and Long Island University. Question and answer session follows for students and parents.
