Spring Reckoning

One hundred and fifty high school students from public schools in the five boroughs attended Spring Awakening and worked with teaching artists writing poetry inspired by the themes of the show. On April 14th, twenty five of those students perform their original work and are joined by Lauren Pritchard, who originated the role of Ilse, and Emma Hunton, who is currently playing the role on Broadway. This one night only performance, MC’d by def poet Al Letson, brings together the honest, raw and powerful work of some of the city’s high school students with cast members from Spring Awakening for an unforgettable night of emotion and catharsis.
