From the Heart of Steeltown: Pittsburgh Jazz Festival Celebrating the Jazz Tradition and Culture of “Steeltown”
The LINCOLN CENTER JAZZ ORCHESTRA with WYNTON MARSALIS welcomes special guest artists JEFF “TAIN” WATTS and STEVE NELSON to perform some of the best of jazz emanating from Pittsburgh.
New Yorkers are invited to come early, at 6:30pm, for a full Pittsburgh experience in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Atrium. There, the public can take in the tastes, sights and sounds of Pittsburgh including $1 samplings of Rolling Rock and Rolling Rock Light-brewed in Pennsylvania and a favorite in Pittsburgh- courtesy of Manhattan Beer.

Notables born and nurtured in Pittsburgh include Earl Hines, still considered by many to be the greatest jazz pianist of all time; Billy Strayhorn, renowned jazz composer and prolific musical partner to Duke Ellington; and vocalists Lena Horne and Billy Eckstine.
