About the Show

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre celebrate 30 years of excellence, innovation, service and education as New York’s premier off-Broadway Asian-American theatre company at their 30th Anniversary Gala Award Dinner.

The evening, emceed by playwright David Henry Hwang and Chris Chan, Esq., honors the late actor Mako, who starred on Broadway in Pacific Overtures and in over 100 films, with the Theatre Legacy Award. Rocky Chin, a committed activist, formerly with the NYC Comission for Human Rights, receives the Community Service Award. Pan Asian’s annual Red Socks Award, honoring Asian-American theatrical artists, is presented to actor Nicky Paraiso.

The ceremony includes a picture montage of the opening number from Pacific Overtures. The evening opens with a cocktail hour and dinner in the grand ballroom, and continues with the awards ceremony, dancing and a raffle (proceeds of which benefit Pan Asian Repertory’s continuing commitment to bringing Asian-themed productions to New York audiences).
