About the Show

You Are Here takes inspiration from the idea that artists can open our eyes to new ideas and fresh perspectives on life. Over the past seven years, Kathleen Dyer has sought out places and companies that foster exchange. Her troupe, KDNY, has traveled to Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Washington, DC and Canada. This fall, performances at the Cunningham studio not only showcase Dyer’s choreography, but also offer audiences an opportunity to see works by celebrated Texan Kathy Dunn Hamrick.

KDNY presents Moerae, a new work that is inspired by the power of the Fates, the women from Greek mythology who spun the destiny of man, even determining their death. Featuring a newly commissioned score by Kevin Keller, these women known as the “Moerae” manipulate the thread of life for every man sometimes carelessly twisting and knotting it into a tangled web. The effects of this absolute power resonate in the “thread of life” that unravels before them as it is pulled across the stage; a destiny to be determined.

Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company presents Blurred, an epic tale of space, which is set to percussive atmospheric music by New York composer, Bill Ryan.
