Where’s the Rub?

Performance group Mei-Be Whatever continues their exploration at the intersection of the body and technology with Where’s The Rub? Focusing their attention on the experience of touch and distorted body image, creators Mei-Yin Ng (choreographer) and Eric Koziol (media artist) create a surreal world, equal parts gi-gong massage parlor, factory test lab, and cosmetic surgeon’s operating table. Donning a wardrobe of hospital gowns and support gear mounted with hi-res mini-cameras, the dancers’ bodies are transformed into a bio-mechanical landscape. The images are broadcast in real time just as each joint, contact point, and process gives voice to the body’s usually inaudible comments.
