About This Show

On Tuesday, February 27th, 6:30pm - 9:00pm, we are proud to present a reading of a new contemporary play in celebration of this year’s Black History Month theme, “African Americans and the Arts”, written and performed by legendary theatre artist Thurman E. Scott. We Are One is about people from different backgrounds trying to come together. Set in the community of Harlem, which is emblematic of the world, We Are One focuses on the conversations taking place among the local church congregation about prejudice, violence, and the human experience. These conversations are intermingled with scenes of stark, emotional current and historic experiences of life lived with neighbors and the barriers that divide us. Join us for a powerful artistic evening as we examine and address the reality of what is happening today, and exchange ideas with empathy and honesty. After the reading, we will have an active audience discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.
