About the Show
The Lark Theatre Company’s first BareBones® Presentation of the 2003-2004 season will be Saviana Stanescu’s new play Waxing West. The play, subtitled “A hairy tale in four seasons”, is a bitingly comic fable of hope and perseverance. Daniella, a mail order bride from Romania arrives in the United States just in time to witness the coming of age of post 9/11 America. As Daniella seeks to adjust to a new life and the U.S. seeks to adjust to a radically changed world she is haunted by memories of Romania’s former totalitarian leaders–the Ceaucesceaus–who appear to her as vaudevillian vampires.
