About This Show

In the world’s poorest country, the UN’s largest peacekeeping force is suppressing a bloody civil war over the earth’s most precious stones. Truncated focuses on an increasingly lost Irish journalist as he explores Sierra Leone’s present and past, where the diamond trade is helping to perpetuate the country’s civil war. We see rebel soldiers trade the glittering rocks for Liberian munitions, a young girl facing circumcision before a mute international community, and child soldiers trying to forget witnessed atrocities. Inspired by Douglas Farah’s compelling Blood From Stones, playwright and actress Layna Fisher depicts 22 characters, both male and female, whose lives have been affected by the violence — with chilling implications for the War on Terror.

This is a workshop production. Reservations are required.
