Goode Productions presents Training Wisteria, part of The New York International Fringe Festival.
The play is a funny, too-true look at American divorce: Mom hates Dad. Dad hates Mom. Dylan hates everything. In a world where “Dadfare checks,” and Gameboy-induced detachment are the norm, the family learns to thrive in its dysfunction. The story takes place on the day before Dylan’s high school graduation, where the problems of the previous year come to a head and the family splinters apart then manages to fashion itself into something different – a family that is more concerned with love and support from within than keeping up appearances from without.
Training Wisteria, which is receiving its New York Premier, is already a multiple award winning play, capturing the “triple crown” at the American College Theatre Festival in 2003, the first time in the history of the festival that one play has accomplished this feat – it is also the only play that has won both the Drama and Comedy awards.
