About This Show

Tiny Theater includes theater, dance, object-theater and puppet-theater, and occurs on a 6′ x 6′ x 6′ stage in under 10 minutes. The second annual festival of Tiny Theater expands this year to two venues: the Ontological and The Brick, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The line up:

Ontological veterans Temporary Distortion approach the subject of cross-country travel through the tensely static stage compositions that have become the signature of their work. (bullet hole road) is Temporary Distortion’s unique spin on the American Road Movie.

Returning Tiny Theater artists the NY Neo Futurists conduct pseudo science in a small space under experimental conditions; the result is Tiny Isolation Experiment.

Cherry Red Productions vows to mount the hippest, happenin’-est, East Village-est parody ever to grace a tiny downtown stage with Li’l Care Bear Crash, their 10-minute knock-off of the 2005 Oscar-winner for Best Picture.

Steven Gridley collages family dinners over the course of a difficult month. Gridley and co-director Jacob Titus spin puns and similar sounding words until language begins to change meaning in Theme and Variations.

A forest plastered with pornographic pictures found in a father’s dresser drawer constitutes the setting for Annie Baker and Emily Charlotte Conbere’s Porn Forest. War-tired grandmothers serenade the audience.

A wife’s sight is destroyed by her operatic husband, and she renders him mute in return in A Week of Kindness. Corina Copp and Kelly Kivland fracture dialogue and challenge the limitations of movement in this dance-theater work.

Curated by Daniel Allen Nelson and Shannon Sindelar of the Ontological and Michael Gardner of The Brick
