About This Show

Theatre Askew Youth Performance Experience (TAYPE) and viBe Theater Experience in association with terraNOVA Collective present the world premiere of Thirsty, written and performed by Genna N. Miller, directed by Jason Jacobs, with Dana Edell and Tim Cusack.

Thirsty is a detective story scored to a neo-soul beat about a young woman struggling to piece together the reasons for her latest breakup. Reeling from the
sudden departure of her girlfriend, Lily encounters other women in her community — among them Lolita, the fashion plate who obsesses about Burberry even while masturbating; Natasha, a customer support phone operator who shares details of her frustrated marriage with her customers, and Jaded, Lily’s teenage sister, who uses her sexuality to dominate the boys around her — she comes to understand that the solution to the mystery of love can only be found within ourselves.

Embodying each character in turn, Miller reveals their fantasies, hopes, disappointments, and resilience through monologues, poetry, and song. Humor, heartbreak, and a refreshingly frank eroticism swirl through her performance, as Thirsty challenges societal assumptions about female sexuality and teenage wisdom.
