The Night Word

Hawk From a Handsaw presents Edward Cahill’s The Night Word. This full-length one-act drama turns liberal race discourse on its pious ass by asking a white man and a black man to look each other in the face and speak the truth.

Francis, a high-minded white man, lies paralyzed in a hospital bed; and Langston, a smart and ambitious young black man, visits him on a nightly basis, gradually revealing the brutal violence that first brought the two men together and the calculated exercise of power that reunites them. Make no mistake: This ain’t no Hollywood buddy movie.

Ken Hanes directs the production, which stars Marc Geller and Jason Quinn.
