About This Show

A comedy with serious overtones, The Merchant of Venice centers on Shylock, a Jewish money-lender, and Portia, a young heiress. The story culminates in a dramatic courtroom scene. Now set in 1927 during the rise of fascism in Italy, this production runs in repertory with Nat Colley’s sequel The Doctor of Rome.

There is no performance on Friday, May 17. The performance on Saturday, May 18 takes place at 3:00pm. There is an additional performance on Saturday, May 25th at 3pm.
