Fovea Floods’ adaptation of Jean Genet’s classic text, The Maids, plunges into a darkly comic and wildly visual landscape of fantasy and glamour. In 5 tense scenes, two sisters, alternately played by both men and women, act out the perverse fantasy of killing their mistress, to unexpected and harrowing results. Questioning the blurred boundaries of sexual identity, Fovea Floods’ production of this work is a riveting meditation on gender, self image and the dangers of fantasy. Directed by Sue Kessler.
