About This Show

Following in the Food For Thought tradition where there is a theme each season, the theme for fall 2008 is juxtaposition of writers. Each show will present the work of two writers who wouldn’t ordinarily be placed together. And so the season will open with Arthur Miller’s American Clock and Steve Martin’s Wasp–it would be difficult to find a less likely pair of writers to put together! American Clock, produced in 1980 with actress and sister of Arthur Miller, Joan Copeland (who played their mother) and John Randolph, is based on Hard Times by Studs Terkel and deals with 1930’s America during the Depression. Ms. Copeland returns to the role she created on Broadway and recreates it at Food For Thought. Along with the drama will be Steve Martin’s WASP, a black comedy set in a kitchen in a fifties’ house. Louise Lasser, who mesmerized audiences every week in a different black comedy set in a kitchen in a seventies’ house, will star in this very Martin kind of play.
