Tartuffe takes place in the home of the wealthy gentleman Orgon, who, engulfed by a mid-life crisis, seeks the friendship of the seemingly pious Tartuffe. Orgon is convinced that Tartuffe is a man of great religious zeal and fervor, but, in fact, Tartuffe is a scheming hypocrite; a penniless puppeteer looking for a family to manipulate. Orgon’s responsibilities, his wealth, his household, his beautiful young wife and family all fall to poor Tartuffe to master in this classic five-act comedy by one of the greatest French playwrights.
