About This Show

Nerve Ensemble presents spam.show, a modern junk mail spectacular. Participants – including artists across the spectrum of New York’s performing arts scene, from opera to Broadway, Flamenco dance to indie-rock – were asked to choose a favorite spam email as a starting point, but from there were given free reign over their performance. Says Artistic Director Alyse Rothman, “It’s in keeping with Nerve’s mission to find something extraordinary in these prosaic, utterly ordinary parts of our lives […] I’m excited to get lots of different creative takes on this irreverent material […] With such a great range of talents, we’re collectively transforming something extremely annoying into something hilarious and entertaining.”

Scheduled to perform are:

Mark Adamo (resident composer at City Opera, Lysistrata), Stephanie D’Abruzzo (Tony nominee for Avenue Q), Jeremy Shamos (Reckless, The Rivals), Everett Quinton (The Mystery of Irma Vep, Ridiculous Theatrical Co.), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (Well, The Thugs), Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers, Kinsey), Robert Kaplowitz (sound designer, The Internationalist, Dead City), as well as a Flamenco dancer, a live cooking demonstration, and a soloist on the musical saw.

The evening also features a sneak preview song from Nerve’s upcoming Vegas Project by composer Lance Horne with choreography by Vegas veteran Tiger Martina (Movin’ Out).
