Reverend Billy: Saving the Souls of Tourists

About the Show

How does one define Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop-Shopping: The War on Tourism? High Church? Low Comedy? Will you survive the Shopocalypse? The Church’s OBIE-award winning show, which The New York Times has described as “the most pointed and courageous political theater in New York,” features exorcisms of all major credit cards. The Reverend leads Holy hexes against Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and Home Depot. After soul-saving arrests this past year in Disneyland and Mall of America, the 30-voice Stop Shopping choir sings “CHANGE-A-LUJAH!” Reverend Billy (performance artist and activist, Billy Talen) releases audiences from their shopping demons and “the evil within.”

Part of the Speigeltent festival.
