P.S. 122 presents Cristal Chnanelle Truscott’s Peaches, a theatrical piece inspired by Nina Simone’s “Four Women,” a slave narrative, young black women in America, and a 6 year-old’s dream timeline. Focusing on Simone’s character of Peaches, the piece attacks the stereotype of the “angry” African American female identity by presenting a rich and complicated picture of the black female experience.
