The Absinthe-Minded Theatre Company presents Otherwise Engaged, by Simon Gray. The play takes place in London in the late 1960’s. It is about a well-off, Oxford-educated publisher whose peaceful Saturday morning is interrupted by a variety of friends, relatives and strangers who are interested in his attentions, affections, influence, or affluence. When he seeks to avoid conflict,
he’s accused of indifference; when he takes someone to task, he’s accused of snobbery and selfishness. His life is changed irrevocably by the end of the play, and it is up to the
audience to determine whether he is the cold and apathetic creature he’s accused of being, or a victim of the misunderstanding of others. Osnat Laske Greenbaum directs.
