No Matinees: An Evening of Theater Authored by J. Anthony Roman

We are pleased to announce No Matinees an evening of theater authored by writer J. Anthony Roman. A wide variety of directors have chosen their favorite pieces written by Mr. Roman, creating this diverse theatrical event. J. Anthony Roman, a young veteran of the independent theater circuit, has been producing his own work in New York City since the age of 18. At 29, this young, Hispanic, New York Native gathers an impressive roster of directors and actors to showcase some of his strongest words and stories in No Matinees

Composed of five short one acts, and one monologue, No Matinees depicts unrelated situations with each vignette existing in their own world. However, each piece tackles issues directly impacting the modern American way. From the loss of innocence in a time of war, to statutory rape, to "making it" as a working artist in New York City, No Matinees makes for some of the most pleasurable, intense, and humorous theatrical experiences of the Spring!

This production will be showcasing an impressive group of actors with a marvelous array of talented directors, underscored by the fresh voice of J. Anthony Roman. Those working on No Matinees include talent from Labyrinth Theater, ReGroup Theater, Impetuous Theater, Developing Artist, The Drama Center, INTAR, NY Collective, terraNova, and various other theater institutions throughout New York City and the country.

Also feature the rock act Violent Sex on the evening of June 13th and hip-hop act Jo-Ski & Reka "The Saint" on the evening of June 14th.
