Adapted from Act IV of John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi, Never Live Long in Cages combines elements of ritual, electronic sound, and Jacobean language. On the verge of a psychotic breakdown, the principal character fo Bosola narrates his inner conflicts, which are translated into direct experiences for the audience. His tortured psyche takes the physical form of a group of madmen, while the Duchess floats in and out of his vision. Travis Chamberlain directs this production, which is part of the 5th annual New York International Fringe Festival.
