About This Show

Richard Foreman’s Ontological-Hysteric Theatre presents the premiere of a new play, My Renaissance Faire Lady, written and directed by Evan Cabnet. The production boasts a cast of 16 and is punctuated by dance numbers to heavy metal and prog rock of 70s bands such as Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull and Styx.

The play follows the story of Toby, who leaves behind a dead-end job at the Chicken Shack to seek better, more dignified employment to impress and keep his girlfriend. He joins the Ye Old Towne Village Renaissance Faire Continental Regional Tour, merely to face a new set of humiliations. Inadvertently, Toby’s limited knowledge of role-playing games, late 70s prog rock, and archaic music videos causes him to paint an imaginary mental landscape in which he and his co-workers are transformed into a noble band of knights, riding through the countryside of America in search of riches and glory. But as he loses his tenuous grasp on reality and his best friend betrays him, Toby is forced into a final battle for honor.
