New York City
It’s 1953, and Buffalo is the latest stop for the fading theatrical couple George and Charlotte Hay. Touring with a repertory consisting of threadbare versions of Cyrano de Bergerac and Noel Coward’s Private Lives, they are hoping for one last grasp at glory. George receives a phone call from legendary screen director, Frank Capra, who needs replacements for the stars of his current film, The Scarlett Pimpernel; and he wants to see one of the shows and consider George and Charlotte for the roles. By the author of Lend Me a Tenor, Ken Ludwig, Moon Over Buffalo piles madcap misunderstandings as Charlotte’s deaf mother, a love triangle, and an ingénue with a secret add to the comic complications.
