Masquerade: Poems of Calypso and Home

About the Show

Subtitled “A Theatrical Concert,” Masquerade: Poems of Calypso and Home begins with a drum call and Roger Bonair-Agard declaring: “If one day the ancestors should return, honor them.” This call sets into motion what the playwright/performer refers to as “the journey of a man tracing the story of his self-imposed exile through music, memory, and poetry.” Sharing his art over a bottle of rum, Bonair-Agard weaves living, breathing tapestries out of politics and the notion of home. He tenderly unmasks family secrets, his adolescence in 1980’s Trinidad, and life as an immigrant in America.

There is no performance on Wednesday, November 15.
On Sunday, November 19 there is a 2:00 PM matinee.
