Dreamscape Theatre presents the 1928 Drama Machinal, Sophie Treadwell’s brutal satire on the loss of humanity in society.
Everyone needs to have a bit of time off, to get away from the various pressures of the world. But for one woman, the demands on her time have become all-inclusive, to a point where she literally feels she is drowning; and her only chance of escape is one of violent desperation. These issues are examined in Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal, a play as timely today as when it was first written more than three quarters of a century ago. Morgan Anne Zipf directs.
