About this show

Brooklyn percussion duo Loop 2.4.3, in conjunction with The Player's Theatre, presents a showcase performance of music from the group's debut album, Batterie, which is being released in NY the same day and nationally on October 23, on the independent Brooklyn label Music Starts From Silence. The CD features six new works for percussion duo, penned by Loop 2.4.3, whose performances have been described as "more freewheeling than academic, the group mingles taut compositions with a stunning improvisational sense." (Time Out - Chicago) The performance will also feature guests who have collaborated with Loop 2.4.3 over the past two years: The Vinca Quartet, Stephen Gilewski, and Tom Burnett. Loop 2.4.3 consists of percussionists Thomas Kozumplik, founding member of Clogs and the Yale Percussion group, and Lorne Watson, who also holds the drum chair for Willie McBlind (Jon Catler's microtonal blues band). With Loop 2.4.3 as their main project, Watson and Kozumplik have become active figures in the cross-world of modern classical and indie jazz-rock/instrumental music, performing with such artists as The Bang-On-A-Can All Stars, The Books, Erik Friedlander, Sufjan Stevens, Ethel, Clogs, Belle Orchestre, and their late mentor Robert Hohner. Their performance at The Players Theatre showcases music from their CD, which, incidentally, was taken from a live performance (a KEXP Sonarchy Radio program in Seattle, WA).
