Inner Voices

Inner Voices 2014 is a double bill of two new works commissioned by premieres starring Andrea Frierson and Phoebe Strole.

Grace by Charlayne Woodard with music by Kirsten Childs is a haunting and soulful tale about brilliant, arrogant, award-winning novelist, Grace Monroe, as she faces the most devastating challenge of her life, forcing her to reassess her past, present and future. Grace will be directed by Shirley Jo Finney, music directed by Rona Siddiqui with Marc Schmied on bass, and starring Andrea Frierson in the title role.

The Other Room by Mark Campbell with music by Marisa Michelson is a moving and often humorous solo piece celebrating the power of friendship and political engagement in the midst of the AIDS crisis. Lena reflects on her profound love for her friend Steve at a critical point in their relationship when he becomes seriously ill. The Other Room will be directed by Ethan Heard, music directed by Ian Axeness with Brian Sanders on cello, and starring Phoebe Strole as Lena.
