About the Show
IATI Theater proudly announces the 25th anniversary of its Cimientos Play Development Program, a visionary initiative supporting bold new voices in contemporary theater. Founded in 2000 as La Voz de los Autores, Cimientos (“foundations”) has long provided space for playwrights to experiment, grow, and refine their work. Each year, selected writers participate in a robust process of mentorship and dramaturgy that culminates in the Cimientos Staged Reading Series in June. These bilingual readings—followed by artist talkbacks—invite the public into the creative process. The 2025 cohort reflects Cimientos’ international and bilingual spirit, with playwrights from the Americas and Europe writing in English and Spanish.
