New York City
In early 2001, former VH1 talk show host Bobby Rivers asked a CNN producer how the New York City industry perceived him. She answered that he was thought of as “…the black guy who does funny local liveshots.” That is only the tip of the iceberg. Having worked in and around show business for over twenty years, Bobby has watched Wheel of Fortune with Lucille Ball, sipped cocktails in Martha Raye’s lap, and been served macaroni and cheese by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.
Now, Tantalum Theater Project presents television celebrity Bobby Rivers in his New York stage debut, I Look Thinner on TV!, a humorous journey through his experiences in and out of show business and other “bidness.” Bobby dishes the dirt on his life, and what he thinks of others’ lives, as well as what it means to be two minorities in show business–African American and Gay. David Gautschy directs.
