About This Show

Horses place the bets as Daniel, a New York City carriage driver from Amish country falls in love with Gea, a woman intent on banning horses from Central Park. As Daniel eases his new horse Rocky into life in the city, he shares with Gea insights into a NYC carriage horses’ life – including where the horses live and where they go on vacation for 5 weeks every year. The other horses show Rocky the ropes including a beautiful young mare named Bambala. A rock score drives this universal tale about life, freedom and how love of horses brings people together.

Inspired by the distinct personalities of the horses he had worked with as a NYC carriage driver, playwright/composer, Mitch Kess (The Deciders, The Last American) has joined forces with carriage owner, Ariel Fintzi to bring to life onstage this iconic New York tradition just as the movement to ban carriage horses in New York City has been gaining momentum. Kess and Fintzi provide a theatrical ride to see the other side of this topical issue. A timely look at a New York tradition.
