About This Show

Hans: A Case Study, based on Freud’s 1909 landmark analysis of Little Hans, which became the foundation of his Oedipus Complex, is about more than the phobia of horses in a young boy. In working with an all-female cast and inviting some of the leading academics in the Freudian lexicon into the lab process, writer and director, David Pilot uncovers the aftermath of child psychoanalysis to reveal a man whose triumph over familial trauma and abuse positions him as a significant role model.

In addition to some of Broadway’s leading actors performing as the Voice of Sigmund Freud (Austin Pendleton, Valery Oisteanu, and André De Shields), following each performance the audience is invited to participate in a panel discussions with leading psychoanalysts and academics on Freud and Little Hans.
