About the Show

Directed by Gus Smythe and set in a coastal village in present-day Maine, Going to Bordeaux introduces us to Vincent, a 40-something artist who feels life has passed him by. Once an irresponsible, but happy-go-lucky, painter in the Bohemian world of New York’s Greenwich Village, he gave that up when his girlfriend Nell announced she wanted to take their 13-year old daughter Dana out of the city and chose Maine as their new abode. Torn from his creative lifeline, Vincent has felt his talents and zest for life atrophy over the years, all the while becoming more and more bitter and resentful. While he and Nell still live together, any real sign of intimacy between them (other than the occasional grunt and all-too-frequent shouting match) is few and far
between.
