About This Show

Better than botox, but harder to find…

What if Ponce de Leon, the famous Spanish Conquistador really did discover the fountain of youth, and what if it came with a curse? Noemi de la Puente, with the collaboration of Teatro SEA (Society of the Educational Arts, Inc.), presents her one-woman show, Fountain of Youth, a show about second chances and avoiding ageing at all costs.

The play starts off in St. Augustine Florida, when Assistant Coroner Alexa Ruiz examines the bodies of an elderly couple, much older than she expected (even for Florida). Her wild adventures involve a whirlwind of characters and events that ultimately lead her to the fountain of youth hidden in the swamps of Eastern Florida. The story examines a difficult question – knowing the power of the curse of drinking from the fountain, would you still want eternal youth that badly?

Ms. de la Puente plays all the characters in this one-woman show, ranging from a mysterious old woman and a crusty Spanish sailor to a former super model, and everything in between! The performance combines storytelling narrative with rapid-fire dialogue as Ms. de la Puente moves quickly from one character to the next.

The New York Times has said of Ms. de la Puente’s work, “She scares children…Providing comic relief…”

By the end of the show you should feel a little bit better about the emerging lines around your eyes! The show is directed by veteran film and stage actor Mateo Gomez.
