Flying on the Wing
Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre at The Players Theatre, Off-Off-Broadway
$15.00
GypsySoup presents the New York premiere of Flying on the Wing as part of the 10th annual New York International Fringe Festival.
Michael Perlman’s touching and hilarious solo show follows a vertically-challenged arthritic hearing-impaired homosexual young man and his world of musical theatre, Playmobils, divine intervention and Play-Doh. As our hero grows up and attempts to navigate the world without these tools, he encounters loving figures from his life and from beyond who remind him that true peace lies in those musicals, absurd beliefs, and favorite childhood toys.
“Michael Perlman is a thrilling performer, a laugh-’til-you-cry storyteller, and a speaker of chilling truths of sex, gender, desire, age and bodies. His gentle, generous performance is the kind of theatre you *hope* you’ll get when you go see a solo show: it’s completely transformative.” — Performance Artist Kate Bornstein
