Adapted from “Light the Flambeaux,” the play is a powerful drama that moves effortlessly between the front porch drama of human relationships to broader considerations of patriarchal colonialism in the 19th Century Caribbean. Set in a gritty settlement called Homer Yard, the gripping events unfold during a time of great change. It is a fantasy where the worlds of the upper class, lower class and ancient spirits collide in 19th Century colonial Trinidad. Against the backdrop of colonialism, these three groups fight for both relevance and a sense of belonging.
