About This Show

Winner of the Overall Excellence in Solo Performance at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival, Dixie Longate returns to NYC with Dixie’s Tupperware Party. This hysterical show combines drag, QVC-styled sales pitches, improv comedy and over-the-top monologues. It is directed by Thomas Caruso (resident director of Mamma Mia!, associate director of Bombay Dreams).

Dixie’s Tupperware Party is a party like no other! Your hostess for the evening is Dixie Longate, an Alabama housewife with a unique take on just about any topic. The evening is presented just like a traditional Tupperware party, but fast-talking Dixie just can’t stop from telling anecdotal stories from her colorful life — from her failed marriages, to tips on child rearing, to stints at various women’s correctional facilities. And you won’t believe the alternative uses she has found for her plastic products!

At the end of the show, Tupperware will be available to purchase on a cash-and-carry basis, you can fill out an order form at Ars Nova, or you can take a catalogue with you and shop at home or online. Any apartment-dweller would kill for Tupperware’s new FlatOut collapsible space-saving containers. And anyone will instantly fall in love with Tupperware’s sleek new can opener that never comes in contact with the food inside!

Dixie Longate is the brainchild of Kris Andersson, a Pittsburgh native who now resides in Los Angeles. On a dare, Kris started doing Tupperware parties as Dixie Longate in 2001 and quickly became a sensation among the housewives of Orange County. This year, Dixie is poised to become the first salesperson to top $200,000 in sales. Dixie has appeared on Fox News and on Jack Osbourne’s BBC show Union Jack.
