Pop/rock band Bishop Allen’s debut album Charm School won four stars from Rolling Stone and has already sold over 7,000 copies in six months, all without a label. Brainy pop-punk band We Are Scientists is a trio of west-coast transplants peddling their own special brand of rock genius. They may be genuine independents, but with their catchy harmonies and mind-blowing wall-of-sound, they are surely on their way towards some Brooklyn hipster version of international stardom.
