As Bees in Honey Drown

The Heights Players offers up the madcap pace of Douglas Carter Beane’s sophisticated comedy, As Bees in Honey Drown, this March. Beane, an American playwright and screenwriter, has penned many notable plays and screenplays, including The Nance, The Little Dog Laughed, Sister Act – the Musical, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar. He was also responsible for the revised libretto used in the Metropolitan Opera’s recent production of Die Fledermaus. Well known, and highly praised, Beane won an Outer Critics Circle Award for As Bees in Honey Drown in 1997-98.

Called a “delicious soufflé of satire” by The New York Times, As Bees in Honey Drown takes its audience on a ride with Evan Wyler, a twenty-something NY writer who is savoring the success of his debut novel.
