About This Show

An Evening of Semi-Autobiographical, Highly Self-Indulgent Theater consists of three interwoven one-act plays that feature Lawrence Goodman and Gersh Kuntzman making a series of never-ending mistakes – they fall in love, they botch their careers and they write just horrible plays. Of course, it all ends in misery and despair – this is a comedy, after all! Neo-Shtick is traditional Jewish vaudeville comedy with a post-modern edge (think Derrida playing the Catskills). The authors appear as characters in their own plays and the fourth wall of theater gets broken down repeatedly, but Neo-Shtick is also not afraid to tell a “Take my wife” joke or bring the audience on stage for a cathartic hora!

Part of the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival.
