Musical guests, Barbez, mix French musette with punk and Russian traditional music to form post-cabaret sound, using everything from the Palm Pilot to the theremin. The evening also includes a visual, kinetic and vocal solo created and danced by K.J. Holmes; The Sword of Yamato, a shadow play performed by Drama of Works; an aerial performance by Barbez’s Ksenia Vidyaykina; and witty, contortion-influenced dance by Jody Sperling.
Ample Sample is just that: two evenings to sample some of the best new work scouted in and around town. Curator Michelle Moskowitz Brown has combed the city to bring together a mix of seasoned performers and newcomers in dance, theater, puppetry, the aerial arts and more.
